Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired wide-ranging medical education with a concentration on issues concerning the feet and ankles. They are educated to treat difficulties varying from regular ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which furnish them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
