Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually a number of podiatry programs lie within these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained substantial medical instruction with an emphasis on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to deal with problems ranging from familiar problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which give them the prior experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet routinely experience.
