Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant medical instruction with a concentration on concerns involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to treat problems stretching from simple problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet commonly encounter.
