Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive healthcare instruction with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to address problems ranging from normal problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which furnish them the expertise necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid numerous troubles which the feet generally encounter.
