Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant healthcare instruction with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are educated to treat concerns varying from commonplace conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which furnish them the expertise required to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet normally encounter.
