Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired thorough health care instruction with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to deal with problems ranging from conventional problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience needed to execute surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of complications which the feet normally experience.
