Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired comprehensive medical training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to handle complications ranging from commonplace problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which supply them the expertise required to perform surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks.
