Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in reality several podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical education with an emphasis on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address problems varying from standard afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the prior experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet generally encounter.
