Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to handle complications ranging from standard disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against countless conditions which the feet generally experience.
