Our podiatrists put in an average of a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial healthcare education with a stress on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat problems ranging from basic conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the skill required to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet usually encounter.
