Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired significant medical education with an importance on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat conditions stretching from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which furnish them the skill necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid countless problems which the feet generally experience.
