Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained substantial medical education with an emphasis on problems involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to treat conditions stretching from commonplace ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of problems which the feet regularly experience.
