Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive medical training with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to care for conditions extending from general problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet usually experience.
