Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough medical training with a focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage difficulties varying from simple conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet routinely experience.
