Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained encompassing healthcare training with a focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat difficulties extending from normal ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the skill crucial to carry out surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and protect against numerous problems which the feet frequently encounter.
