Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough medical instruction with an emphasis on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to treat concerns ranging from conventional ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which supply them the experience essential to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous complications which the feet regularly encounter.
