Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical training with an attention to on complications involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to deal with difficulties stretching from regular ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
