Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained significant healthcare instruction with a focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems varying from commonplace conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the experience essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against numerous problems which the feet generally encounter.
