Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired thorough medical training with an emphasis on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with difficulties varying from conventional afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the practical experience vital to carry out surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent numerous conditions which the feet typically experience.
