Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact various podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained encompassing medical training with an importance on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to handle difficulties stretching from usual problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience needed to perform surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet typically experience.
