Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical education with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat conditions ranging from usual ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the skill vital to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous troubles which the feet normally encounter.
