Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired thorough healthcare training with a focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for problems extending from usual ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet generally encounter.
