Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with an emphasis on conditions involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to handle problems stretching from simple problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the skill essential to conduct surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of countless issues which the feet typically experience.
