Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained comprehensive medical training with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to address problems extending from typical ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the expertise necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet commonly encounter.
