Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained comprehensive health care instruction with a main focus on issues involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to manage difficulties extending from standard conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet commonly encounter.
