Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive healthcare education with a focus on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to care for difficulties extending from typical ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against a large number of complications which the feet generally experience.
