Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained substantial medical training with an importance on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are taught to handle conditions ranging from commonplace afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against countless complications which the feet routinely encounter.
