Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and several podiatry programs lie within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received substantial healthcare training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to treat issues varying from usual ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet usually experience.
