Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical instruction with a stress on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage difficulties ranging from typical ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against a large number of troubles which the feet typically encounter.
