Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained considerable medical training with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are instructed to treat difficulties varying from basic afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to execute surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet commonly experience.
