Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained significant healthcare training with an attention to on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to handle problems ranging from conventional afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which furnish them the experience essential to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet generally encounter.
