Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained encompassing healthcare instruction with a stress on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat problems ranging from usual afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which provide them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet generally encounter.
