Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and several podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired encompassing healthcare training with an attention to on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address complications extending from standard disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which give them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against numerous problems which the feet normally encounter.
